More About Wayne Kulesza
Born in Chicago into a family of tool and die-makers, wood craftsmen, and inventors, Wayne Kulesza dedicated himself to fine woodworking at an early age. At age nineteen Wayne was hired by the world-renowned toy design studio Marvin Glass & Associates in downtown Chicago as a model and patternmaker apprentice. Wayne worked at Marvin Glass & Associates for nine years under twenty-seven artisans from Europe and America from many shops and trades including his own father with whom he worked closely for over twenty years. Wayne was the last model maker hired by Marvin Glass until they closed in 1988.
Wayne was featured in Fine Woodworking Magazine while still in his twenties. Knowing his eye for detail would prove a valuable tool, Wayne carried his woodworking skills into the pattern and model-making industry. Wayne now uses the precision cutting and shaping skills he learned as a model-maker and machinist to enhance the beauty of his classical woodwork.
